So far, I mean from moving to Sydney, one 34cm TV and one TEAC VCR have been repaired successfully. Other minor repairs would not be worth for counting.
Two major ongoing repair projects are, one TEAC 68cm TV (CTM685) and one SUN Ultra1/2 Workstation.
The biggest problem for repairing here, especially in the case of electrical appliance, is lack of replacement components. Purchasing somewhere is either expensive or impossible. Maybe the best choice is to get components from other discarded things.
The equipments and tools is another important requirement. You have to pay for some quality tools. If you are lucky, maybe you could get some retired testing equipments for free.
Finally, if you really want to do this, you have to seek support from your family member. Simply because you are risky to make your cozy home to a garage or repair shop.
