Mod on X-Twin charger

November 13, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Last week bought two x-twin bi-wing rc plane. It’s quite fun:)

There is one annoying thing, the plane is charged by the transmitter. So the batteries drain very quickly:(

I decided to mod it to accept external power supply as charger source.  The designed voltage of power supply is 9v. but it’s difficult for me to find a dc 9v power plug. finally, i find a ac 9v power plug (from an old modem) and decided to add a rectifier filter inside the transmitter. After everything is installed into the transmitter, i realized the output voltage of rectifier is 14v!!! even with the load of charger. Fortunetely, I worked out a solution to handle with this problem. it’s very easy indeed. just hook 3-4 diodes (I used GP15D, but any diodes with >1A current limit should be fine) in series to the power supply supply.

Here is my version (photo will be uploaded later). i even used the swith on the socket to automatically swith the power supply to external one when I plug into the plug.
